Yoga Philosophy - A Guide to Patanjali, Ashtanga, and Raja Yoga

Tristhana, which involves the mind, helps with focus and self-awareness. Ashtanga is not easy to practice. It's best to begin slowly with a handful of movements, before you move onto more difficult poses.

Raja yoga

Raja Yoga, a yogic philosophy, focuses on mind and how it works. It teaches that there are five types of consciousness. We can call them kshipta (mudha), vikshipta (vikshipta), and niruddha (niruddha). Each state can be described as a different kind of mental activity. By practicing raja Yoga, we can learn to change these states.

Yoga as a whole aims at achieving a higher state consciousness in which an individual is aware of the connection between the universe and God. This state is known as "samadhi", and it's a state that is pure bliss. Raja Yoga stresses the importance pranayama or controlled breathing in achieving this goal. Tantra yoga




Tantra yoga, an ancient spiritual practice based upon a yogic philosophy, is something you have probably heard of. This ancient philosophy is a way to bring out the best in body, mind, spirit.
